Essential Phone does not take off: since August only 50 000 smartphones have been sold

Startup "father Android" Andy Rubin sold about 50 thousand smartphones Essential Phone (PH-1). This is indicated by the number of settings of the regular camera application in the Google Play store, through which developers distribute updates.

Do not take

The first and so far the only Essential smartphone received a frameless design, a body of titanium and ceramics, as well as top characteristics, although the camera does not hold out to flagship models. Cherry on the cake was the support of modular accessories, but the company was delayed with the release. Deliveries of Essential Phone began in late August, and after the September presentation of the new iPhone about the smartphone was simply forgotten.

To somehow correct the situation with sales, the manufacturer has reduced the cost of the gadget by just $ 200 to more than $ 500. On cyber Monday, a kit with a 360-degree camera module could be snatched for just $ 400 in the US.

Estimates of the popularity of Essential Phone based on Google Play metrics are very approximate. Real sales can be below the specified 50 thousand, because developers often create multiple accounts for testing applications. This will be taken into account in the statistics of the store, as well as downloads by new users after the resale of the device.

Even at the start of Essential Phone was not in great demand - for the first month in the network operator Sprint was released about 5000 devices.
