Lenovo Mirage Solo: the first stand-alone VR helmet for Google Daydream

Last year, Google announced the first partners to create fully autonomous virtual reality helmets for the Daydream platform. Later, HTC decided to go its own way, but Lenovo did not refuse to cooperate with the search giant, and at the CES 2018 the company introduced the VR-headset Mirage Solo.

Smartphone is no longer needed

Lenovo Mirage Solo is equipped with a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 75 Hz. The viewing angle is 11 degrees. Inside, a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory are also installed. There is even a slot for microSD cards, and instead of built-in speakers it is suggested to connect headphones to a 3.5 mm jack. Two front cameras for tracking movements provide six degrees of freedom. WorldSense technology does not allow you to move freely around the room, but users can evade enemy bullets and hide behind virtual barricades. It remains to wait until the developers are tightened - in Las Vegas, Google showed only a few demos.

Built-in battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh provides up to 7 hours of operation without recharging. The package includes a wireless remote control. The gadget in the plastic case weighs almost 650 grams, but thanks to the adjustable fastening the weight is distributed evenly (the design resembles the PS VR).

Question price

Sales of Lenovo Mirage Solo will begin in the second quarter of 2018, VR-helmet will cost "up to $ 400" (most likely, $ 399 or so) - twice as expensive as Oculus Go, which Xiaomi deals with . Yes, the novelty has got a more advanced tracking system, but the store does not have applications and games with WorldSense support. Holders of the flagship smartphones of recent years so far can be limited to buying a simple headset in the style of Google Daydream View. We told about other Lenovo AR / VR devices in the report with IFA 2017.

During the exhibition, Lenovo also introduced the Mirage Camera for shooting video in VR180 format. It is not much different from the Yi model , there is no information about the price and timing of the release.
