Microsoft will add support for Progressive Web Apps for Windows 10

Progressive Web Apps (Progressive Web Applications) are becoming more popular. If you use "Twitter" or Flipboard, then, most likely, faced with them. Such applications work in the browser and offline, sending notifications. Even The Washington Post got its own PWA.

What is known

Microsoft also decided not to stand by and add support for PWA in Windows 10. Progressive Web applications are available in the new version of the Edge browser, which supports the necessary technologies. Developers will also add support for PWA in the Microsoft Store, and third-party developers will be able to post their work for review.

Unlike standard applications such as Microsoft's Visual Studio Code, PWA can not include native code that depends on the OS. These are still websites, but with better caching, notifications and background functions.

When to expect

Progressive Web Apps are already available for Windows Insider Program participants built into Windows 10. Others will receive an update before the end of 2018.
