HMD Global, according to a report by Counterpoint Research, has sold more than 4 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2017.

What is known

The exact figure was 4.4 million and thanks to this, Nokia got into the top 11 of the best smartphone manufacturers with a market share of 1%. It also means that the company sold more devices than other larger and well-known brands.

Here is a list of companies that sold fewer devices than HMD: HTC, Sony, Google, Alcatel, Lenovo, OnePlus, Gionee, Meizu, Coolpad and ASUS.

HMD Global also set several records. For example, Nokia has become the number one brand in Vietnam and in many markets of the Middle East. Also the company entered the top 3 best brands in the UK and in the top 5 in Russia. According to analyst Neil Shah (Neil Shah), which is a partner of Counterpoint Research, Nokia took 6th place, as the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world.

In the dry residue

HMD Global began to develop the Nokia brand well, but the manufacturer should focus more on the smartphone segment. Analyst Neil Shah advised companies to come up with a focused strategy in Latin America to compete with Motorola and Samsung, and also to focus on the markets of Asia and Europe in 2018.
