Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro officially submitted

A couple of minutes ago in India, the Xiaomi presentation ended, where Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro were introduced.

Device Characteristics

Both smartphones were equipped with 5.99-inch screens with a resolution of Full HD + and a ratio of 18: 9. Redmi Note 5 received the same processor as its predecessor Redmi Note 4 - Snapdragon 625. But the Pro version was equipped with a new chipset Snapdragon 636. The younger version of the smartphone will be sold in two versions: 3/32 GB and 4/64 GB. Redmi Note 5 Pro will also receive two versions: 4/64 GB and 6/64 GB. In both devices, a hybrid slot was installed for two sim cards or for one sim and a microSD card.

New items received identical batteries for 4000 mAh and connectors for charging microUSB. But the cameras are different. The younger version of the smartphone installed one main camera module at 12 megapixels with aperture f / 2.2 and a front camera at 5 megapixels. The older model has already got a dual module of 12 Mp + 5 Mp. The second camera is designed for photos in portrait mode. Unfortunately, there is no optical zoom, as in the Mi A1. Frontal camera at 20 megapixels. It has a wide viewing angle and a "Face Unlock" function.

Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro "out of the box" will work on Android 7.1 Nougat, on top of which the MIUI 9 shell is installed. As in all budget Xiaomi devices, there are no new NFC-modules.

Prices and sales start

Both smartphones will be sold in several colors: Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue. For Redmi Note 5 3/32 GB will be asked $ 156, and for the 4/64 GB version - $ 186. Prices for Redmi Note 5 Pro will be slightly higher: 4/64 GB for $ 218, and 6/64 GB for $ 265. The start of sales will begin already on February 22 and only in India. So far, unfortunately, there is no information on international supplies.
