Recently, HP and Fujitsu have begun recalling batteries in some notebook models, and Amazon has launched a similar program for pawnbanks that were sold under the AmazonBasics brand.
Amazon recalls 260,000 universal mobile batteries with a capacity of 2000 mAh and up to 16,100 mAh. Six models in a black casing were produced by the Chinese Guoguang Electric Co., Ltd. on the order of an online store. It turned out that they can overheat and pose a fire hazard. There were recorded cases of damage to property due to an exploded battery, in addition, one user received a chemical burn.
And now what?
Amazon calls on all consumers to stop using potentially dangerous pa-banks. The company announced a massive return of batteries with a full refund, however, the program operates only in the US and Canada. The conditions for recall in other countries are likely to be announced later.
