Asahi Glass has developed ultra-thin glass for folding smartphones

Japanese company Asahi Glass, which produces tempered glass for smartphones Dragontrail, is preparing to present on   Display Week 2018   - flexible glass that can be used in   folding smartphones.

What it is

This is chemically reinforced glass, which has a minimum thickness   - only 0.07   mm. Despite   thickness, glass, as assure   Asahi Glass, on   80% stronger on   compared to   similar to chemically-hardened glasses.

In addition, its ultimate tensile stress is about 1   200   MPa, and   possible radius of curvature   - 2.5   mm, so it is great for producing flexible smartphones.

Development is planned to be presented at   Display Week 2018, which will be held on 23   May in   Los Angeles .
