Android Oreo for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is on its way

Yesterday we wrote that unfortunately, smartphones Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will no longer receive updates. But there is good news for owners of Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge and not only.

What is known

Samsung has finished with the update Galaxy S8 / S8 + and Note 8. Next on the line will be the flagship of 2016. All devices that receive new major updates need to re-pass the Wi-Fi certification. Thanks to this, several smartphones were seen in the Wi-Fi Alliance with Android 8.0 Oreo "on board". Among them there is Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge, as well as Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A3 (2017). In addition, it is expected that the update will also receive a tablet Galaxy Tab S3.

Characteristics

Recall that the flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were introduced in February 2016. Smartphones got the same "stuffing", but different diagonals of screens and capacity of batteries. The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch screen and a 3000 mAh battery, and the S7 Edge, in turn, is equipped with a 5.5-inch display and a battery of 3500 mAh. Both smartphones work on the Exynos 8890 chip paired with the graphics accelerator Mali-T880 MP12.
