Microsoft called the release date for the April update of Windows 10

Microsoft officially submitted an update to Windows 10 April 2018 Update. Rumors about the transfer of the release for May were not confirmed, but were very close - the distribution of the new version will begin on April 30, the last day of the month.

What's new?

Developers focus on three innovations. Firstly, it is the function Timeline, which was originally planned in the autumn update. It allows you to view the list of programs and files that the user has been working on in the last 30 days. So you can quickly find the right document, even if it was opened several weeks ago. This will also display actions in mobile versions of the Microsoft Edge browser and Office 365.

The Timeline is opened with a button on the taskbar or with the Windows + Tab shortcut. The history will be synchronized between the user's computers if they are connected to the same Microsoft account. If desired, the function can be disabled and use the standard "Task View".

The second important change is Focus Assist. The function disables unnecessary notifications and helps to focus on one task. You can set priorities so that the user does not miss an important message, and also specify the auto-on hours. After exiting this mode, all pending alerts will be displayed in the notification center.

Separately, Microsoft notes the dictation function. Beginning with the April update, Dictation can be invoked with a simple Windows + H keyboard shortcut. Voice input works in any text field, regardless of the open application. True, Russian and Ukrainian languages are not yet supported (Cortana has not been able to learn them for several years, and again).

Users of Microsoft Edge were pleased with the button for mute the sound in the tabs, full-screen view of documents, the function of autocomplete payment forms on sites and the ability to print pages without extra text.

Among other changes is the Application Guard function for additional protection against hacker attacks in the Pro-version of the system (previously only available in corporate edition), improved game mode and an analog of the AirDrop function for easy file sharing with nearby devices.
