Bloomberg: Microsoft is preparing a 10-inch Surface for $ 400

After the failure of the first tablets on the same failed Windows RT, Microsoft switched to the top line of Surface Pro, but this year the company again wants to release a more affordable solution. According to Bloomberg sources, Novikov will cost two times cheaper than "professional" models.

What kind of beast?

According to rumors, the younger Surface will receive a 10-inch display and a new design of the case without sharp corners. Inside the processor and Intel graphics are used, the internal memory is 64 or 128 gigabytes, depending on the version. This will be the first Microsoft tablet with a universal USB-C port (with support for charging and data transfer).

The stand is built into the case of the device, the branded case-keyboard, stylus and mouse will be sold separately, and Microsoft prepares more accessible versions of accessories. The novelty will be 20% lighter than the 12-inch Surface Pro, but the operating time will be reduced by four hours. Thus, you can expect about 9-10 hours of video playback (Microsoft somehow measures the autonomy for this parameter).

Modifications are planned with the support of 4G LTE networks. The operating system uses a full-fledged Windows 10 Pro.

When and how much?

As expected, the presentation of the most inexpensive Surface will take place in the second half of 2018. The price of the tablet will start from $ 400, while the current Surface Pro costs in the US from $ 800.
