Microsoft is launching new application to replace Microsoft Office

Microsoft is rebranding its built-in Windows Office suite to Microsoft 365. The existing program is primarily used for quick access to Office services, and the new one will use the Microsoft Graph network to provide additional software, documents, and a feed of appointments and information that can be useful for planning the day.

Here's What We Know

The new program will not be limited to strictly commercial use - it can also be used by students. This version will contain Office programs, a ribbon with quick access to recent documents, and the ability to view appointments. It will also include all Microsoft programs, as well as some from third-party developers.

"The new Microsoft 365 app is part of our broad strategy and focus on Microsoft 365, and reflects the innovation we seek to offer as work and life continue to evolve," Jared Spataro, CVP of Modern Work at Microsoft. "The app serves as a hub for all of the productivity apps advocated by Microsoft 365 and provides a simple yet powerful experience for our customers as they navigate the changing work styles and collaboration models."
