Great Britain confirmed that Russia is bombing Ukrainian cities with strategic Kh-55 missiles with simulated nuclear warheads

The Ukrainian publication Defense Express studied photos of debris from Russian missiles and wrote on November 17 that Russia had started using Kh-55 cruise missiles with simulated nuclear warheads. Nearly two weeks later, it was confirmed by British intelligence.

Here's What We Know

A statement to this effect appeared on the official Twitter page of the British Ministry of Defense. The Russian X-55 air-launched strategic cruise missile was developed in the 1980s as a nuclear warhead carrier.

After one of the massive missile attacks on Ukrainian cities in mid-November, it was discovered that the X-55 was equipped with a simulated warhead instead of a nuclear warhead. British intelligence believes that in this way the Russians were trying to create more problems for Ukraine's air defense system.

Experts note that even with a simulated Kh-55 can inflict damage, but it is unlikely that it will be enough to meet the target. Also, the British intelligence report states that the use of strategic nuclear warhead carriers, indicates the depletion of the stockpile of missiles. But, as you and I have all seen more than once, counting Russian missiles is a thankless task.
