Dell unveiled a portable monitor that looks like it was ripped off an XPS laptop

Dell has announced a 14-inch USB-C portable monitor priced at $349.99, which will go on sale worldwide on August 31. It features a 1080p IPS panel with LED backlighting (60Hz refresh rate, 6ms response time) and can be used as an additional display for a USB-C laptop.

The monitor, which Dell calls the C1422H, has a narrow frame and minimalist design that makes it look like it's been ripped off an XPS laptop. It features a built-in stand that tilts from 10 to 90 degrees. The portable monitor weighs less than two kilograms and its peak brightness reaches 300 nits.

There is a USB-C port on each side of the base that can receive and transmit power; they can also handle video signals in DisplayPort 1.2 alt mode. You can get started by simply connecting the monitor to a laptop or other device using the included USB-C cable. The monitor will be powered by your laptop as long as they are connected.

If you want your device to remain charged while it is connected to the monitor, you can connect your device's USB-C power adapter to another USB-C port at the base of the monitor for pass-through charging. Although, this portable monitor may not be able to transfer the full amount of power needed to charge your laptop.
