Apple dominates the global wearable electronics market, but in China is inferior even to an unknown brand XTC
Analytical agency Canalys has summarized the results of the third quarter in the market of wearable electronics, where Apple confidently continues to lead, but not in all countries. In the reporting period, 49 million devices were shipped in the global market, which is 3.4% more than a year ago.
Here's What We Know
The U.S. company dominates the global market for wearable watches and sports bracelets. It has a share of 20 percent, double that of its chaser, Samsung. Year-over-year shipments of smart watches from the two manufacturers grew by 37% and 16%, respectively.
Xiaomi failed in the third quarter, as sales of wearable gadgets fell by 38%. With a share of 9%, the Beijing-based company ranked third. The Indian brand Noise, which sold 223% more devices in the third quarter of 2022 than a year ago, suddenly came in fourth. It has a share of 7%, as does Huawei, taking into account a 29% drop in shipments.
In China, Huawei is also not doing well, although this does not prevent the Shenzhen-based manufacturer from leading with a share of 24%. Huawei is no longer dominant, as shipments fell by more than a quarter (27%), while Xiaomi increased its share to 22%.
The third place is unexpectedly taken by the unknown brand XTC with a share of 10%. It even managed to surpass Apple, despite the fact that the latter has increased supplies more than one and a half times (53%). The company from Cupertino controls 9% of the market. Fifth place is taken by OPPO with a share of 7%.
