Steam online record broken again

Online role-playing game Final Fanstasy XIV is preparing for a new update Endwalker, which will be released on December 7. Early access is available to pre-ordered players. The new Final Fantasy expansion has brought together the largest number of online players of all time, although it has caused some problems.

Early access to the update opened on Friday, December 3, and already on Saturday, the MMO game set a new record of simultaneous players on Steam - 95 150 people. If FFXIV gathered such a number of people before the official release of the game, we can say that the record will be updated several times after the release of the game for all players.

But all is not so bright; over the weekend, a huge line of people formed, wanting to be transported to the world of Eoresia as quickly as possible. For some players, this caused temporary connection problems. The disruptions only affected early access members, not all players of the fantasy MMO.

Producer Naoki Yoshida apologized to the players - the problem is the lack of server capacity.

To make amends, along with the official release of Endwalker, the developers will give a whole week of free play to everyone who has purchased the full version of Final Fantasy and has an active subscription. The offer is also valid for multiple account holders and for gamers who are eyeing the game through a free 30-day period - the free week is automatically activated after a subscription. Also, the producer won't turn off the possibility of increased compensation if the server problem happens again.

FFXIV was originally supposed to be released on November 23, but Yoshida postponed it until December 7 "due to his own selfishness as a game director." The add-on will be the biggest DLC for Final Fantasy XIV and will complete the story arc.
