Musk blocked Twitter accounts of journalists who criticized him and shut down Twitter Spaces voice chats after a strange conversation with them
Perhaps many people are no longer surprised by Elon Musk's bizarre actions, especially after he bought the social network Twitter. But in recent days he has again made a number of rather absurd decisions.
Here’s What We Know
It began with Twitter account @ElonJet with 1.5 million followers, which was tracking Elon Musk's private jet, was permanently blocked, which published data on the movement of private planes of celebrities, including Musk. This was despite the fact that back in early November, Twitter's new owner had promised not to block it.
There's more to come. Twitter blocked the accounts of some well-known journalists who covered Musk's activities and criticized him (although who has not done this lately). Thus, at least 10 journalists of such publications as The New York Times, CNN, The Intercept, Washington Post, Mashable and others were banned. Musk claimed that they were also tracking his location, though in fact the media representatives were just writing about the situation with the @ElonJet account.
Some of those journalists set up a voice chat on Twitter Spaces. He was also joined by 20-year-old Jack Sweeney, owner of that very @ElonJet account, and Elon Musk, who tried to explain the reason for the blocking: "You dox, you get restricted. End of story, that's all." The word "doxxing" is traditionally used to refer to the public sharing of personal information, such as a home address or personal phone number.
After this strange conversation, the Twitter Spaces feature was shut down altogether. However, Musk unblocked the accounts of some journalists. He says he made the decision after a vote among his followers on whether he should unblock the accounts that track his location.
