Aselsan has developed an active phased array radar as part of the OZGUR project. It will be installed on Bayraktar Akinci strike drones.

Here's What We Know

We wrote that upgrades to the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters include the installation of Aselsan's new radars. However, Akinci drones will get the new development faster than Air Force aircraft.

This was announced by Ismail Demir, the head of the Defense Industry Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration. The official did not say anything about the timing, but stressed that Turkey is focused on the complete import substitution of avionics and ammunition, and all the developments will be used in the development of the Turkish fifth-generation fighter.

Ismail Demir called OZGUR the most advanced radar in the world. The Turkish radar will be able to track targets on land, at sea and in the air simultaneously.
