Hackers Hacked Artist Beeple's Twitter Account and Stole Nearly Half a Million Dollars from Followers

The hackers were able to gain access to Twitter-account Beeple. They used the verified page of a famous artist to post phishing links.

What is known

The links led to a site "dedicated" to the collaboration between Mike Winkelman (the artist's real name) and Louis Vuitton. When clicking on the link, an unauthorized withdrawal of cryptocurrency occurred Ethereum from the user's wallet. At this stage, the attackers stole 35 ETH or about $72 000.

After publishing a new phishing link, hackers stole another 100 ETH and 45 non-fungible tokens worth approximately $200,000 and $166,000, respectively. In total, the attackers earned approximately $438 in 5 hours. 000. Then Beeple was able to regain access to my account.
