The site Return to Monkey Island is made in the form of a piece of the game itself

Web wizards with Devolver Digital made an interesting site for Return to Monkey Island: instead of the usual advertising slogans, they put a character from the game who shines with his skills of a dubious seller and is ready to share your love for the series Monkey Island

Having opened site Return to Monkey Island, you'll end up in prison, where Stan is being held - accused of "marketing crimes." Stan is one of the most frequent characters in the series, known for his eccentricity and dubious trade ventures. He will try to sell you Return to Monkey Island

You can talk to Stan as if you are already in the game. The trader actively breaks the fourth wall and shows that the authors of the site are not bad with the original material. Example:

  • If you ask Wall how much it costs Return to Monkey Island, he will say: "Once a great sage said, 'Never pay more than $ 20 for a computer game.' But that was more than 30 years ago, before inflation squeezed your $ 20 from the royal ransom to the price of a sandwich ». The phrase about "no more than $ 20 per game" - a meme that was born in  Monkey Island.
  • Stan will confirm that the actor will return to the role of Guybrush Tripwood Dominic Armato (Dominic Armato). He voiced the hero in all the games and remakes of the series, starting with  The Curse of the Monkey Island 1997.
  • The wall can be asked to tell about Loom. He will answer: "Your knowledge of game history is great, but you seem to confuse me with another character.". Loom  - Quest LucasArts 1990 release. IN  The Secret of Monkey Island you could also ask one of the characters about Loom, to which he willingly published advertising information.

Return to Monkey Island launches during 2022 on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch. The exact release date will be announced later. Quote Wall:  This is standard modern marketing practice, my friend. No need to sulk at me because of her!
