Ilon Mask flew to Kyiv to meet with Groisman: the story with Hyperloop received the first confirmation (updated)

According to our source in the Cabinet of Ministers, Ilon Mask flew to Kiev today for private talks with Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman. As you know, Hyperloop is an ultra-fast vacuum train, the project of which Ilon Mask introduced in August 2013. To create it, he founded Hyperloop One, which last year already selected 10 promising routes for its first trains. The first test track was created in 2016. In late February, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan announced the establishment of the Center for Transport Innovation and a test site for the Hyperloop project in Ukraine. Users of social networks ridiculed this idea, but the visit of Mask to Ukraine can radically change their point of view.

Experts who were approached by the editorial board of gg are cautious in their forecasts about the future of Hyperloop in Ukraine, but as one point out, this could be an important milestone on Ukraine's way to Europe and cooperation with the European Union. "Hyperloop will open up new opportunities for working in Europe," said Nikolai Pobyvanets, a leading analyst at ISU (Independent Survey Ukraine), "a resident of a suburb of Lviv or Mukachevo will be able to get to work in Poland no longer than a resident of Kyiv living in Troieschyna and working in the center of Kiev ". The work of Hyperloop in Ukraine can have different manifestations - from the development of software for advanced transport to the production of individual modules of the train itself. "We all know how our programmers are valued throughout the world," comments Oleg Borland, spokesman for the Programmers Association of Ukraine. "It is possible that Ilon Mask is interested in transferring software development for his project to Ukrainian IT companies, this will allow reduce costs for the global company Hyperloop One. " At the same time, all experts pay attention to the closed nature of the meeting, which indicates that while it is a question of preliminary negotiations, the results of which, perhaps, are too early to be made public.

The editorial staff of gg closely follows the further development of the situation.

Updated: on the facebook-page of Ukrzaliznytsi there was a message about the beginning of sales of tickets for the Hyperloop train by the message Kiev-Lviv. The journey takes 30 minutes.
