Ford launches electric car for $25,000

Ford is about to enter the competitive battle with Tesla and introduces its own electric car for less than $25,000.

Here's What We Know

The move comes amid the threat of cheap Chinese electric vehicles entering the US market.

The new electric car will be developed with a dedicated team in Irvine, California, headed by Alan Clark, former developer of the Tesla Model Y. This team is working on a new electric platform that will be the basis for several models. It includes a compact SUV, a small pickup truck, and a dedicated commuter vehicle. The first of these will be available on the market at the end of 2026.

One of the key factors for the new electric vehicle will be its price. According to Ford's CEO, the company is actively working to reduce the cost of its electric vehicles to compete with Tesla and Chinese manufacturers.

President Biden has announced a new emissions rule that will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the vehicle fleet by 2032. This is expected to lead to an increase in electric vehicle sales in the US, according to the EPA, which predicts that by 2032 they could account for 35% to 56% of new car sales.

The arrival of Ford's new electric vehicle promises to increase competition in the market and help make electric cars more affordable for American consumers.
