The director of the upcoming film The Legend of Zelda, Wes Ball, has expressed his desire to create a Zelda film that will satisfy fans' dreams of a serious yet enjoyable cinematic experience.

What we know.

Drawing inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki, co-founder of Studio Ghibli and director of Spirited Away, Ball envisions a unique fantasy adventure that captures the wonder and whimsy of the Zelda universe:

"I know it’s important, this (Zelda) franchise, to people and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape.I want to try to create – it’s got to feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but fun and whimsical".

Co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment and produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions, The Legend of Zelda will be the result of a collaboration between industry giants. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad, an experienced Hollywood producer, will produce this highly anticipated film.
