Beer and technology: Heineken presents its own phone

The Heineken Brewing Company has launched its newest product, a phone that is distinguished by its simplicity and is called the Boring Phone.

Here's What We Know

This extraordinary device is the result of a collaboration with Human Mobile Devices (HMD) and Boston-based streetwear brand Bodega.

The phone was created to draw attention to the problem of digital obsession and bring users back to moments of communication without distractions from modern gadgets. It is designed for those who seek simplicity instead of endless content consumption and social media engagement.

Technical Characteristics

"HMD's Boring Phone offers its users functionality that meets their basic needs. It features a 2.8-inch QVGA main screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and a 1.77-inch external display. The 0.3-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash allows users to capture important moments in their lives. The device runs on the Mocor RTOS operating system and has built-in features that have become classics, such as the Snake game, FM radio and headphone jack.

The gadget supports 4G connectivity and has two SIM card slots so that users can stay connected at any time. The device has 128 MB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card slot. The removable 1450 mAh battery provides up to a week of standby time and up to 6 hours of talk time on 3G/4G networks.

The simplicity is offset by its durability and ability to withstand several drops without serious damage.

The phone was presented at Milan Design Week and its price remains unknown. Only 5000 units were produced.
