In his daily report on the security situation in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the growth of domestic production. The state signs long-term contracts with Ukrainian enterprises.

"This month, our industry is producing 10 Bogans for the first time, and in May and beyond - even more.

This is significantly more than the production of a (relatively) similar CAESAR self-propelled howitzer made by France, which is the standard for 155-calibre self-propelled wheeled howitzers, which is the standard in NATO countries. As the French Ministry of Defence reported in November 2023 on the progress made in the transition to a military economy, "CAESAR production has increased from two to six units per month, and delivery times have been reduced from 30 months to 15 months".

About the Bohdan self-propelled artillery system

The Bohdana self-propelled artillery system (SAU) is a Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer that has been under development since 2009. It is one of the modern models of heavy artillery designed to engage targets at long distances. It is equipped with a 155mm NATO-compliant artillery system with a 52-calibre barrel. The Bogdana's design allows it to move quickly between positions, which ensures a high level of survival in the modern battlefield. Its ability to quickly change positions makes it a difficult target for enemy counter-battery fire. In 2023, it received a new TATRA Tatra chassis to replace the KrAZ and an automatic loading system similar to the French CAESAR. It received its baptism of fire in 2022 during the battles for Zmeinyi Island.

About CAESAR

The CAESAR (CAmion Equipé d'un Système d'ARtillerie) is a French self-propelled artillery system developed by Nexter. This system is mounted on a truck and is equipped with a 155 mm howitzer. The main feature of CAESAR is its high mobility and flexibility, which allows it to be quickly deployed on the battlefield and move to a new position just as quickly. CAESAR is capable of firing at a range of up to 42 kilometres using standard projectiles and up to 55 kilometres using guided or active-reactive projectiles. The system can automatically calculate the necessary parameters for firing, which ensures high accuracy and speed of target engagement.

CAESAR is widely used around the world, including France, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and others. It has proved to be an effective weapon in Ukraine's war against Russia, with dozens of targets destroyed.
