The Rogue Prince of Persia will not be a Dead Cells clone: Evil Empire's game designers have reassured fans and revealed their approach to game development

The announcement of The Rogue Prince of Persia has puzzled many gamers: the game was presented only two months after the release of the similar game Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, besides, it doesn't look like other parts of this brand, which were released by Ubisoft, but it reminds a lot of Dead Cells - the project that made Evil Empire studio famous.

Realising that gamers are waiting for more information about The Rogue Prince of Persia, the developers have published the first video message to the community.

Here's What We Know

Matt Houghton - marketing manager of Evil Empire studio - said that you should not be afraid of excessive similarity between The Rogue Prince of Persia and Dead Cells, although visually both games are similar. But they have different atmosphere, gameplay mechanics, story and, in general, the new game is created as a part of the large-scale franchise Prince of Persia.

It's worth saying right away that we're not making a Dead Cells reskin or clone. Yes, we have learnt a lot from the previous project and we are going to use it, but we are creating the game as a part of Prince of Persia franchise. [...] You will find here everything you love this IP for: a flexible movement system based on acrobatics, dynamic battles and a lot of adventures where the prince has made a terrible mistake and now has to redeem himself to save his people.

Developers from Evil Empire realise that The Rogue Prince of Persia does not meet the expectations of most fans of the series, but in the near future the studio will start publishing videos that will reveal more details about the game, thanks to which it will be possible to form a full opinion about the game.

Matt stressed that the release of the game in early access will benefit it, as it will allow to analyse the wishes of gamers and release a game that will be interesting to a wide audience.

When We Can Expect It

The Rogue Prince of Persia will be released on Steam Early Access on the 14th of May.
