Insider: Microsoft's flagship franchises, including Forza and Halo, will be released on PlayStation, and the Xbox ecosystem will become similar to Steam

Over the past two months, Microsoft has done something that could never have been imagined before: released four games from its internal studios on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.

So far, the corporation hasn't announced any further plans, but it looks like this trend will only continue to grow.

Here's What We Know

Journalist and insider Jez Corden has reported that since Xbox consoles are not as popular as competitors' devices, the company has decided to boost its revenues in another way and will continue to expand its catalogue of in-house games on PlayStation and Nintendo.

Jez Corden believes that:

  • Microsoft's flagship franchises, including Forza and Halo, will be released on other consoles;
  • there will be more opportunities for developers;
  • future Xbox consoles won't stray from the familiar concept;
  • the future Xbox ecosystem will be similar to Steam, emphasising games over hardware;
  • Xbox's handheld console could impose serious competition to Steam Deck;
  • Steam itself could appear on Xbox after some time.

After hearing this information on The Xbox Two podcast, watching gamers take his words out of context, Jez Corden deleted the issue.

Of course, this analysis of Corden may not correlate with Microsoft's plans, but statistics show that for the last month the games of the American corporation have been taking the first places in sales on PlayStation, so the insider's assumption about the active porting of games can be fully confirmed. As for other theses - time will tell.
