Google Photos plans to improve the feature that removes certain faces from Memories

Google Photos, the universal gallery app, is testing a new feature that will allow users to hide certain people's faces from the "Memories" section. This section reminds users of past events and highlights from their lives. However, sometimes "Memories" can be annoying if it reminds you of people you would rather not remember.

Here's What We Know

An Assemble Debug coder from Android Authority has spotted an upcoming feature in Google Photos v6.81.0.628906483. Reportedly, there will soon be an option to use the "Show Less" option so that a person's face won't show up in Memories, but will still be visible in group photos. This appears to be a softer version of the "Block Face" feature, which causes faces to completely disappear from Memories and group photos.

The "Block Face" feature works as before, completely excluding the selected person from Memories, even in group photos. The new "Show Less" feature also removes the person from individual memories, but allows them to be present in group photos. Both options are available under Settings > Preferences > Memories.

At the moment, the new feature is only being tested and is not available to all users. If Google successfully tests this very useful option, it will appear in the stable version of the app soon.
