Opera can now summarise web pages using AI, similar to Google Gemini

Opera browser has a new artificial intelligence feature that can summarise web pages, similar to Google Gemini.

Here's What We Know

The feature was introduced as part of the latest Opera for Android version 82 update. Users can now get a summary of any page by simply tapping on the three dots in the Opera for Android browser and selecting the "Summary" option.

This feature is integrated with Opera's AI assistant Aria, which was launched last year. With the AI summarisation feature, Opera can convert long web pages, blogs and scholarly articles into short text, saving a significant amount of time and user effort.

While Opera claims to be the first to offer a web page summarisation tool on Android, a similar feature has already been seen in Google Gemini, which works with any browser, including Opera itself and Google Chrome.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Opera has introduced an AI-powered summarisation tool. In 2023, Opera introduced a ChatGPT-powered tool called "Shorten" that allowed users to summarise web pages. The feature was added to Opera's Windows browser at that time.
