Ukraine equalled Russia in production of attack drones and significantly increased production of artillery shells

The total shortage of ammunition of all kinds in the Ukrainian army is one of the main factors in the advance of the Russian occupation troops across the territory of Ukraine.

Ukraine was not preparing for war, so it had neither sufficient stockpiles of ammunition and weapons, nor production capacities that would have allowed to increase their output in a short period of time. In general, it is difficult to compare the resources of the terrorist country and Ukraine.

Thanks to the help of the whole world, the armed forces of Ukraine manage to hold back the onslaught of the enemy, the amount of Western weapons and equipment is gradually increasing, but the country itself is increasing the rate of production.

Here's What We Know

ArmiaInform portal contacted the director general of the Ukrainian Defence Industry Concern German Smetanin, who said that thanks to the reform of the state-owned company Ukroboronprom it was possible to attract a large amount of investment, which, in turn, allowed to significantly increase the production of shells and UAVs.

Thus, the enterprises of "Ukrainian Defence Industry" employ more than 54 thousand people, who, working day and night, were able to increase the production of major types of shells and mines, not only Soviet models, but also NATO standards. For some positions they managed to increase production by 10 times - and this in just one year, in conditions of war and the constant threat of getting under enemy fire.

Moreover, according to German Smetanin, in 2024 Ukraine managed to equal Russia in the production of attack drones similar to Shahed-131 and Shahed-136, as well as to establish the development and production of its own unique models.

"Everything that explodes in Russia is ours," said Ukraine's Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin.

For 2024, German Smetanin has set ambitious plans to further increase the rate of ammunition production in order to provide the AFU with everything it needs. Western investments are not the least contributing to this.
