Google at CES 2024: Quick Share for Android and new Chromecast, Fast Pair and Android Auto features

Google announced a slew of innovations for the Android operating system at CES 2024.

Nearby Share Becomes Quick Share

Google has decided to rename Nearby Share to Quick Share. This name was previously used only by Samsung smartphones. Quick Share allows you to quickly share files with Android devices as well as Chromebooks. Quick Share will also appear on LG's Windows laptops in the future.

Fast Pair for Google TV

Fast Pair is a feature to quickly pair Bluetooth accessories with Android and Chromebooks. Fast Pair support is coming to Chromecast with Google TV next month, and to other Google TV devices later this year.

Chromecast Update

Starting today, Android users can stream content from TikTok to in-built Chromecast devices. A little later, there will also be the ability to stream LIVE video.

Android Auto Update

The Android Auto platform has received a new update focused on electric vehicles. For example, Android Auto-enabled EVs will be able to share battery status information with Google Maps in real time. This solution will allow drivers to get information about charge levels when they arrive at their destination. Google Maps will also be able to suggest charging stops and calculate charging times.
