Hungary to buy additional Gpipen C fighter jets from Sweden

Hungary will purchase four Swedish Gripen C fighter jets to add to its existing fleet and extend technical support for the existing fleet for another 10 years.

Here's What We Know

Currently, the Hungarian Air Force has 14 fighters in service, including 12 single-seat Gripen C and two two-seat Gripen D aircraft.

The agreement on technical support for Hungarian fighter jets was due to expire in 2026. But now, after the contract was extended, Saab (the aircraft manufacturer) will support them until 2036.

In addition, in 2021, Hungary signed an additional contract with Saab, according to which the entire fleet of aircraft is to be modernised.
