The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) has finally left Japan. The ship's departure was postponed several times.

Here's What We Know

The US Navy had planned for the aircraft carrier strike group led by USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) to leave the Land of the Rising Sun on September 18, 2023. However, it took place a week and a half late after six postponements.

Following the aircraft carrier, the Ticonderoga-class missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54) left Japan. After USS Shiloh (CG 67) departed on 5 September 2023, USS Antietam (CG 54) and USS Robert Smalls (CG 62) remained the only U.S. missile cruisers deployed to Japan.

USS Robert Smalls (CG 62) and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer Shoup (DDG 86) participated in manoeuvres in the Sea of Japan this week. They were joined by Korean destroyers ROKS Yulgok Yi I (DDG 992), ROKS Dae Joyeung (DDH 997) and combat support ship ROKS Cheonji (AOE 57).
