NASA continues to explore the Red Planet with the help of the Perseverance rover, which companion serves as an unmanned helicopter Ingenuity. Recently, scientists of the federal space agency published an article in which it is said about the discovery of organic molecules on the surface of the fourth planet from the Sun.

Here's What We Know

Perseverance is equipped with the PIXL and SHERLOC instruments. They were able to detect organic molecules on the surface of Mars and confirm the finding. This gives hope that in the future scientists will still be able to find biological life outside our planet, but the guarantee is far from 100 per cent.

The problem is that the presence of organic molecules on Mars does not guarantee the existence of life there. Carbon and hydrogen compounds can arise from reactions of substances from inorganic chemistry.

Perhaps scientists will know more about the find, in about 10 years. The samples must be flown back to Earth to be studied. NASA has planned a mission for the middle of the next decade to return capsules with samples of Martian soil.
