The U.S. will transfer six NASAMS systems, Puma drones, laser guided missile systems and tens of thousands of shells to Ukraine as part of a $2.98 billion military aid package

A few hours after the information about the new US military aid package for Ukraine appeared, its contents became known.

Here's What We Know

The United States will supply Ukraine with six NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems to expand the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defense system. However, it is not quite clear whether we are talking about six launchers or six batteries.

Each complex can destroy enemy air objects at a distance of up to 16 km in altitude and up to 25 km in range. The probability of an accurate missile hit is 85%. Reaction time is 10 seconds. NASAMS can destroy enemy targets that travel at speeds of up to 1,000 m/s (3,600 km/h).

Flashback

NASAMS is a major item in the new defensive assistance package, but it is not the only one. By the way, its amount is $2.98 billion, which is a record for one-time aid.

In addition to the US-Norwegian-made surface-to-air missile systems, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive Puma unmanned aerial vehicles from the Aero Vironment company. But the number is not specified.

The military aid package includes 245,000 artillery shells for 155-mm howitzers, 65,000 120-mm mortar ammunition, U24 anti-artillery radars, laser guided missile systems, and enemy drone suppression systems, including anti-drone systems called Vampire.
