This week saw the conclusion of Freedom Shield, a bilateral exercise involving US and South Korean forces. We wrote about the B-1B Lancer supersonic bomber flights, but other aircraft were also used.

Here's What We Know

Fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II fighters of the Republic of Korea Air Force took part in the exercise. They fired AIM-9X Sidewinder and AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) at enemy positions. The planes also used GBU-31 smart bombs with the JDAM kit.

The iconic American A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft also took to the skies and launched GBU-31 bombs. They also used GBU-38 bombs and AGM-65 Maverick tactical air-to-surface missiles.
