The US Air Force has announced that the last C-21A Learjet has left the Middle East. The business jets flew missions in the region for 32 years.

Here's What We Know

The C-21A Learjet made a huge impact while travelling in the Middle East. The aircraft were used as a high-speed aerial platform, delivering packages, evacuating wounded soldiers and transporting dignitaries.

During Operation Desert Storm, C-21A Learjets delivered classified information on aerial missions. The military used these aircraft to transport spare parts and transmit reconnaissance photos.

The last C-21A Learjet left Al Udeid base in Qatar on 30 June. The aircraft travelled to US Air Force Base Scott, Illinois, where it will continue to operate as part of the 375th Air Mobility Wing.

The U.S. Air Force originally had 84 C-21A Learjets in service. Years later, that number has been reduced to 19 with an average age of more than 37 years. As of 2022, all aircraft were mission-ready.
