Vivo is preparing to revive the line of original NEX smartphones. After a two-year break, the Vivo NEX 5 will enter the market, bypassing the NEX 4 model.

What is known

In March 2020, the presentation of the Vivo NEX 3S 5G on the Snapdragon 865 chip took place. It is equipped with a retractable front camera, which was the hallmark of all smartphones in the series, with the exception of the Dual Display version. Since then, no devices have been announced within the series.

Vivo NEX 5 may get an in-display selfie camera. The screen itself will be built on the basis of an OLED matrix, curved on four sides. The diagonal will be 7”. Insider Digital Chat Station reports that the smartphone will get 50W wireless charging and a periscope telephoto lens with 5x lossless zoom. Perhaps the future novelty will receive ZEISS optics, like the flagship Vivo X70 Pro +.

Vivo NEX 5 will be powered by a 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC. The date of the announcement of the smartphone has not yet been specified. It is possible that the flagship will be presented at Mobile World Congress 2022. The exhibition in Barcelona will be held from February 28 to March 3. Recall that the concept of the original Vivo NEX, which later turned into Vivo NEX A and Vivo NEX S, was shown at MWC 2018.
