DIY enthusiast Ken Pilonnel last year replaced Lightning with USB Type C in the iPhone X smartphone, then sold a custom gadget on eBay for an incredible $86,001. Now another enthusiast Gernot Jobstl decided to repeat his success.

What did you come up with?

Gernot decided to follow the beaten path and took the same iPhone X as a basis. Moreover, he also replaced the Lightning port with USB-C, only added carbon fiber parts to enhance the strength and reliability of the structure. And the rubber gasket made the case also waterproof.

True, after the intervention, the gadget does not look very neat, there are remains of glue, since the work was carried out at home without the use of professional equipment.

However, the author of this creation intends to list it on eBay and spend the money received on other projects. How much he wants for such a smartphone is not clear.
