Xbox Game Pass Passes 25M Subscribers Mark, Now Sony Should Consider Changes to Its PlayStation Plus Subscription
Among the important news about the acquisition Microsoft companies Activision Blizzard is hiding an interesting fact: the Xbox Game Pass subscription continues to be a huge success and has amassed over 25 million subscribers to date.
“Today we also announced that Game Pass now has over 25 million subscribers. As always, we look forward to continuing to add more value and more great games to Game Pass,” said Phil Spencer in his acquisition announcement Activision Blizzard
25 million subscribers make up a significant portion of Microsoft's monthly revenue. But even more impressive is the growth it represents, from 18 million subscribers just a year ago. This number will continue to grow at an accelerated pace.
Microsoft is also working to expand the availability of Xbox Game Pass through Xbox Game Streaming. Last summer, the web version of Xbox Cloud Gaming (formerly Project xCloud) became widely available to players on iOS and PC, and in November, Microsoft began improving the service on Xbox consoles. This will allow new games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator to be streamed and played on older Xbox consoles as the service runs entirely on Xbox Series X hardware.
Spencer has previously stated that Microsoft does not see Game Pass as a replacement for regular purchases, but subscription games have clearly become a priority for the future.
