The Multichain DeFi protocol was hacked by at least three hackers, as a result of which they took possession of $3,000,000 worth of cryptocurrency.

The incident took place on January 17, 2022. The exploit was reported by the developers of the Multichain project. Help in finding the problem was provided by cybersecurity company Dedaub. As it turned out, the hackers withdrew the WETH, PERI, OMT, WBNB, AVAX and MATIC cryptocurrencies from the accounts.

The total damage is estimated at $3,000,000 at the exchange rate at the time the protocol was hacked. One of the hackers received 309 Ethereum coins, which was equivalent to almost $1,000,000. At the same time, he returned 259 coins ($830,000) to the affected investor. The hacker kept the remaining 50 ETH as a reward for the discovered vulnerability.

After the information about the theft of assets appeared, users criticized Multichain for an insufficient level of security. Due to the large number of negative reviews, the project developers have closed the ability to comment on posts on Twitter.
