Apple is finally ditching wired EarPods with iPhone

In October 2020, with the release of the iPhone 12 line, Apple reduced the scope of delivery of new and existing smartphones by removing the charging adapter and wired EarPods from the box. But there was one market that would receive an exclusive set with headphones. Now he has fallen too.

What does it mean?

That market was France, where local law required a headset to be shipped with the smartphone. This was argued by the unknown of how the radio waves emitted by smartphones affect the developing brain.
Therefore, the iPhone came to France in an enlarged package: a box with a smartphone was placed in an even larger package, where wired headphones were added.

But at the end of 2021, a new law was passed in France, designed to reduce the impact of humanity on the environment. And according to this law, from January 24, manufacturers are no longer obliged to complete smartphones with headphones.

“We would like to inform you that manufacturers are no longer obliged to supply headphones with their smartphones in France. At the end of 2021, a new law was passed, the effect of which is aimed at reducing the environmental impact in France,” the French operator Fnac said in a statement.

By the way, Apple is not the only company that, with the adoption of this law, will refuse headphones in the box with new smartphones. According to Fnac, since January 17, the headphones have ceased to be supplied with Xiaomi smartphones.
