"We're going on a journey to a whole new universe" - Blizzard is looking for new employees to develop a AAA-class survival game
Blizzard Entertainment is doing something new: The studio has announced that it is working on a survival game set in a "completely new universe," as revealed on the company's website in the job section.
“We are embarking on a journey to an entirely new universe, where there will be a new survival game for PC and consoles,” the studio said. “A place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told. A vast realm of possibilities waiting to be explored."
Job listings cover positions such as artists, lead programmers, and designers, with individual jobs revealing a little more detail about the game. It's "AAA's new survival game." Not a spin-off of an existing Blizzard game, but a new IP for PC and consoles set in "a world unlike any other created by Blizzard".
Notably, the new Blizzard game was announced just a week after Microsoft announced its intention to buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion.
The ad on the site includes two images: a couple of children in a park who stumble upon a portal to a fantasy world with a floating castle. And an elf character dressed in a hunting suit that looks at a magic mirror.
Although the development process is still at an early stage, some developments are already in place: Blizzard head Mike Ybarra said on Twitter that he has already played many hours in this project with the team.
The announcement emphasizes that Blizzard needs "a diverse team of developers who are willing to speak their mind, listen and be heard." Last week, Ybarra commented on the efforts being made to restore trust in Blizzard, including the addition of full-time leadership positions focusing on culture, human resources and diversity, and the scaling up of Activision Blizzard.
