MediaTek unveils Kompanio 1380 processor for tablets and premium laptops based on Chrome OS
MediaTek quietly announced its new Kompanio 1380 processor.
What is known
MediaTek Kompanio 1380 is an octa-core chip that the company says will be installed in premium laptops based on Chrome OS, as well as tablets. The chipset received four productive cores Cortex-A78 with a maximum clock speed of 3 GHz.
The Mali-G57 accelerator is responsible for the graphics in the new product. The SoC supports quad-channel LPDDR4X memory at 2133MHz and 4K displays with a refresh rate of 60Hz. In addition, it is equipped with a multi-core AI processing module and a dedicated digital signal processing (DPS) chip.
When to expect
The first device based on the MediaTek Kompanio 1380 will be the Acer Chromebook Spin 513, which is scheduled to hit the market in June this year.
