Monobank sold the dollar at a reduced price for 25 minutes – Ukrainians spent UAH 4,500,000 to buy currency

The manager of Monobank accidentally underestimated the value of the dollar by UAH 1, as a result of which the bank lost UAH 150,000 in 25 minutes.

Oleg Gorokhovsky, co-founder of Monobank, announced this on his Telegram channel. According to him, on January 27, 2022 at 09:41, he opened the bank's application and saw that the value of the US dollar was 28 hryvnia 3 kopecks instead of 29 hryvnia 3 kopecks.

As it turned out, the manager who is responsible (responsible?) for exchange rates accidentally underestimated the value of the dollar by 1 hryvnia. A more profitable course lasted for 25 minutes. During this time, Monobank users spent about UAH 4,500,000 on buying the currency, and as a result, Monobank's losses amounted to about UAH 150,000.

Oleg Gorokhovsky noted that the clients of the bank, who were able to buy a dollar at 28 UAH 3 kopecks, would not have to pay extra.
