Sega has abandoned arcade machines. She worked on them for 56 years
With the advent of high-speed Internet and powerful PCs, the arcade machine business began to fade, and the pandemic dealt a devastating blow. Back in November 2020, SEGA announced the sale of most of the arcade business, and the day before announced that it completely closes this area.
After the sale in 2020, SEGA Sammy still had 14.9% of SEGA E leftntertaiment - this is the branch in the company engaged in arcade games. The day before, Genda bought the remaining part. She bought 85.1% of the company a year and a half ago.
Now SEGA Entertainment will be renamed Genda GiGO Entertainment, and all arcade halls under the SEGA brand will be transformed into GiGO. The news is primarily about Japan - that's where the arcades are still popular (but not so much that SEGA continues to tinker with them).
