The release of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice in 2017 was warmly received, in large part due to the deep themes that underlie the visually impressive gameplay. This reception, along with Microsoft's acquisition of Ninja Theory in 2018, meant that expectations for Hellblade 2 were very high. Ninja Theory is currently holding back on revealing many of the game's details, but they recently released concept art to fuel expectations for Hellblade 2's release.

The concept art is described as depicting Hellblade 2's "coastal settlement" and was created by Ninja Theory artist Marco Teixeira. It depicts Senua standing on a dark, huge object and looking out over a coastal village. There is fire, and what looks like a river of lava leading into the village. Birds are circling over the shore. Waves break on boulders along the coastline. This is a very dark piece of art.

Although Ninja Theory did not provide any additional context for the image, the concept is related to official trailer Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which debuted during The Game Awards 2021. During this trailer, the village of Senua is hunting a giant they find in a cave along the coastline.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 currently has no release date and is in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
