Huawei dropped out of the top 10 largest manufacturers in the last quarter of 2021
Analyst company Omdia published its own report on the smartphone market following Counterpoint Research.
What is known
Omdia, unlike Counterpoint, offers a look not at the top five, but at the top ten largest manufacturers. According to the results of the fourth quarter, Apple is in the lead with deliveries of 87 million and a share of 24%. Samsung shipped 69.1 million smartphones and took 19%. The share of Xiaomi was 13% (45.2 million units).
The top 5 included Vivo and OPPO, which occupied 9% of the market each. They are followed by Realme (5%). Note that the Chinese giant Huawei, which most recently led the market, fell out of the top 10. It was surpassed by Honor (4%), Motorola (4%), Tecno (2%) and iTel (1%).
As for the whole of 2021 as a whole, Samsung is in the lead here. The share of the company from Suwon, as in 2020, was 20%, despite an increase in supplies by 5.9%. Apple takes the second place (18%), and Xiaomi closes the top three (14%).
Vivo and OPPO continue to fight each other. According to Omdia, the former is in the lead with 134.2 million devices versus 134.1 million. Realme continues to show the largest percentage growth - 48.6%. It increased deliveries from 39.1 million to 58.1 million smartphones and took the sixth place (4%).
At the end of the year, Huawei is still in the top ten. Compared to 2020, deliveries fell by 81.6%. The company was overtaken by Motorola (4%) and Honor (3%), but it is still ahead of Tecno (2%). The total shipments of smartphones for the year amounted to 1.3388 billion units (+3.4%).
