The authors of the movie "Sonic" will do a film adaptation of the game "It Takes Two"
Hazelight Studios is looking to adapt its 2021 It Takes Two game for film or television through a partnership with dj2 Entertainment. The news of the deal comes from an exclusive report by Variety.
Hazelight Creative Director Joseph Fares says he's thrilled to be able to take It Takes Two outside of video games. "Creating the game's world and story has been a lot of fun for me and the whole team," Fares told Variety. "Because it has a strong narrative with lots of crazy characters and equally crazy moments of co-action, the potential for a great film or television adaptation is huge."
dj2 Entertainment is no stranger to the production of video game adaptations. In 2020, they released a Sonic movie. dj2 CEO and founder Dmitry M. Johnson spoke to Variety about the potential project, saying, “dj2 is honored to partner with the incredible Hazelight Studios team on a media adaptation of It Takes Two. Like the rest of the gaming world, we've fallen head over heels in love with Cody, May, Rose, Dr. Hakeem, and the imaginary fantasy universe that Hazelight created, and can't wait to bring these characters - and this world - to life on the big and small screens." .
It Takes Two came out last year and received many rave reviews from critics and players.
