Chernobylite will receive the first expansion and enhanced version on PS5 and XBOX Series on April 21
Survival horror role-playing game Chernobylite has announced a release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, confirming a host of improvements for next-gen consoles and also revealing that the update will be free for existing owners.
Initially released in the summer of 2021, Chernobylite has received widespread acclaim for its story and gameplay. The development team at The Farm 51 used 3D scans of Pripyat, Ukraine, and the surrounding area to create a realistic in-game counterpart. With a non-linear storyline, RPG elements including crafting, a mixture of stealth and survival combat, the horror genre relies on more than impressive environments. The game combines supernatural threats with a sinister military presence as players explore the dark and terrifying world of Chernobylite, seeking to unravel its secrets.
Chernobylite will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on April 21st. A physical copy of the game for PS5 will also be available. The developer has confirmed that those who already own the original version of the game will be eligible for the free next-gen update, with the update set to "introduce ray tracing and improve the game's hyper-realistic visuals." Players can expect to see two new graphics profiles: 4K (dynamic) 30fps and 1080p (super detail) 60fps. PS5 users will also see DualSense controller support.
Along with this, the first Blue Flames DLC is coming to the game: the first of four expansions planned for 2022, and will offer "a free content update, a new weapon (Silent Assassin's crossbow) and a paid content pack."
Chernobylite is a survival game in the Chernobyl exclusion zone where players must confront both their past and the enemies lurking around every corner.
