Microsoft is testing a new Media Player for Windows 11

Microsoft is preparing a major redesign of the corporate player media player.

What is known

The new version is already being tested by program participants Windows insiders. The program is based on the popular Windows Media Player application, which has been part of the Windows operating system for years. Starting with Windows 8, Microsoft tried to separate music and video into separate applications, but now it has again decided to combine the two.

The new player has received a completely updated design, which now matches the appearance of the Windows 11 operating system. Icons have been changed in the player, and also added large control buttons in the center. In addition, the application received support for the "picture in picture" function. When playing music, the player displays the cover art of the current track.
